<p><strong>Job Title: Warehouse Material Handler</strong><p><strong>Job Description</strong><p>The Warehouse Material Handler plays a key role in safely, accurately, and efficiently moving, storing, and distributing materials within a warehouse and production environment. You support daily operations by receiving, inspecting, and organizing materials, operating forklifts and other material handling equipment, and maintaining accurate inventory through cycle counts and data entry. Safety is the top priority at all times, and you work closely with production and shipping teams to ensure materials are available where and when they are needed.<p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li>Receive, inspect, and unload incoming materials and products, verifying quantities and quality against documentation.</li><li>Accurately pick, pack, stage, and transport materials to designated locations within the warehouse or production facility.</li><li>Load and unload trucks, containers, and pallets using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.</li><li>Operate sit-down and stand-up forklifts, pallet jacks, and order pickers safely and efficiently after proper training and certification.</li><li>Perform regular cycle counts and manual inventory counts to maintain accurate inventory records.</li><li>Enter data into computer systems to track inventory, material movements, and production-related information.</li><li>Use basic math and measurement skills, including reading and utilizing a ruler, to verify dimensions and quantities of materials.</li><li>Label, sort, and store materials according to established procedures to ensure easy identification and retrieval.</li><li>Prepare materials for shipment by packing, labeling, and completing required shipping and receiving documentation.</li><li>Support shipping and receiving functions, including loading outbound shipments and unloading inbound deliveries.</li><li>Assist with warehouse production activities, including material staging for manufacturing operations in a metals or related facility.</li><li>Identify damaged, non-conforming, or incorrect materials and promptly report issues to supervision.</li><li>Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area by following housekeeping standards and removing debris and obstructions.</li><li>Follow all safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment at all times in a warehouse and production environment.</li><li>Work collaboratively with team members and other departments to meet production numbers, efficiency goals, and customer requirements.</li><li>Perform general labor and other warehouse or material handling duties as assigned to support overall operations.</li></ul><p><strong>Essential Skills</strong></p><ul><li>High school diploma or GED.</li><li>Minimum 1+ years of warehouse and production experience in a metals facility or manufacturing-related facility.</li><li>Previous experience in material handling, warehouse operations, or shipping and receiving.</li><li>Forklift operation experience, including sit-down and stand-up forklifts, with ability to obtain or hold powered industrial truck certification.</li><li>Strong warehouse experience, including experience with pallet jacks, order picking, and general warehouse production.</li><li>Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions.</li><li>Basic math skills and the ability to read and use a ruler for measurement and verification.</li><li>Computer knowledge for data entry, inventory tracking, and use of warehouse or production systems.</li><li>Attention to detail and accuracy in cycle counting, inventory control, and documentation.</li><li>Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment.</li><li>Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods, lift, carry, push, or pull materials up to 50 pounds, and perform repetitive motions.</li><li>Willingness to work in a warehouse and production environment with varying temperatures and industrial conditions.</li><li>Strong focus on safety and adherence to safety procedures and personal protective equipment requirements.</li></ul><p><strong>Additional Skills & Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>Experience in a metals facility or manufacturing-related warehouse environment.</li><li>Experience in inventory control, warehouse inventory management, and cycle counting.</li><li>Experience with shipping and receiving processes, including loading, unloading, and documentation.</li><li>Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer applications used in warehouse operations.</li><li>Experience with packing, packaging, and order picking for production or distribution.</li><li>Comfort working with production numbers, efficiency targets, and performance expectations.</li><li>Ability to adapt to different departments and shifts, including MCO and shipping roles with standard day shifts (such as 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.).</li><li>Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain a clean and orderly work area.</li><li>Willingness to learn new systems, equipment, and processes to support continuous improvement.</li></ul><p><strong>Why Work Here?</strong><p>You join a high-performing warehouse and production operation that values safety, efficiency, and teamwork. The environment includes exposure to noise, moving equipment, and varying temperatures typical of an industrial setting. You will stand and walk for most of your shift, frequently lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling materials up to 50 pounds and performing repetitive motions such as bending and reaching. The facility operates multiple shifts, including 1st shift (6:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.), 2nd shift (2:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m.), and 3rd shift (10:00 p.m.–6:00 a.m.), with some departments such as MCO and Shipping operating standard day shifts (for example, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.). Dress is casual industrial, typically jeans and a t-shirt, with steel-toed shoes required. Personal protective equipment is provided and must be worn at all times, and strict safety procedures govern the use of forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.</p><strong>Job Type & Location</strong><p>This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wichita, KS.</p><strong>Pay and Benefits</strong><p>The pay range for this position is $19.20 - $20.20/hr.<p>Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
