Choc O Pain Bakery and Café is an authentically French Bakery. We use fresh ingredients and make our products fresh everyday. We are looking for skilled individuals to join our team-focused Pastry department.

Job Summary: We seek a skilled and passionate Pastry Cook to join our pastry team. As a Pastry Cook, you will be crucial in creating delectable and visually appealing pastries and desserts that delight our customers. Your expertise in pastry preparation, baking techniques, and attention to detail will elevate the overall dining experience for our patrons. The ideal candidate should be creative, organized, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Pastry Preparation: Prepare a wide range of pastries, cakes, tarts, and other desserts according to established recipes and quality standards.
  • Baking Expertise: Operate baking equipment proficiently and monitor baking times to ensure products are cooked to perfection.
  • Ingredient Management: Maintain inventory of baking ingredients and ensure timely restocking to avoid shortages.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct quality checks on all pastries to ensure they meet presentation and taste expectations, addressing any issues promptly.
  • Creativity: Collaborate with the pastry supervisor to develop new and innovative pastry items, keeping up with industry trends and customer preferences.
  • Food Safety: Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards, following proper handling and storage procedures to maintain a hygienic work environment.
  • Order Fulfillment: Assist in fulfilling customer orders, ensuring timely delivery, and meeting production schedules.
  • Pastry Presentation: Apply artistic skills to present pastries in an appealing and aesthetically pleasing manner, enhancing customer experience.
  • Cleanliness: Maintain a clean and organized work area, including equipment, tools, and storage spaces.

Requirements:
  • Proven Experience: Previous experience as a Pastry Cook, Baker, or similar role in a professional kitchen or bakery setting is preferred.
  • Culinary Education: A diploma or certification in Pastry Arts or a related field is advantageous.
  • Culinary Skills: Proficiency in various pastry techniques, baking methods, and dessert preparation.
  • Creativity: Strong artistic and creative abilities in pastry presentation.
  • Attention to Detail: Precise and meticulous approach to pastry preparation and finishing touches.
  • Time Management: Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize to meet production deadlines.
  • Adaptability: Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, based on business needs.
  • Physical Endurance: Capability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects, between 30 and 50 lbs., when required.
  • Team Player: Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude to work collaboratively with colleagues.
  • Food Safety Knowledge: Familiarity with food safety and sanitation regulations.
