International Logistics Coordinator

About the position

Givens Logistics is seeking an experienced and results-driven International Logistics Coordinator to support our Greensboro operations. This role is responsible for coordinating and managing day-to-day transportation activities across domestic truck brokerage, ocean freight, air freight, and cross-border shipments. This position combines hands-on logistics execution with operational oversight, ensuring efficient, compliant, and customer-focused freight solutions. The ideal candidate will have experience in multimodal logistics, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage shipments while supporting team coordination and operational performance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end shipment lifecycle across truckload (FTL), less-than-truckload (LTL), drayage, ocean freight (FCL/LCL), and air freight.
  • Coordinate international and cross-border shipments, ensuring compliance with U.S. Customs and other regulatory requirements.
  • Arrange bookings, routing, tracking, and delivery of shipments across multiple transportation modes.
  • Negotiate competitive rates with carriers, airlines, steamship lines, and transportation providers.
  • Prepare, review, and validate shipping documentation including bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, and customs documentation.
  • Communicate with carriers, overseas agents, customs brokers, and internal teams to ensure timely movement of freight.
  • Monitor shipment milestones and proactively resolve delays, service issues, or disruptions.
  • Maintain accurate shipment records and data within the Transportation Management System (TMS).
  • Provide shipment visibility and proactive communication to customers.
  • Serve as a point of contact for customer inquiries and service escalations.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships while delivering a high level of service.
  • Provide recommendations on transportation modes, routing strategies, and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Support the coordination and workflow of logistics coordinators and operations staff.
  • Assist in assigning workload and ensuring shipments are managed efficiently.
  • Provide guidance and support to team members on freight processes and systems.
  • Promote a collaborative and customer-focused team environment.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT, TSA, FMC, and U.S. Customs regulations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and operational records.
  • Monitor freight claims, insurance requirements, and regulatory compliance.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and streamline logistics processes.
  • Track operational performance and support improvements in service levels and margin performance.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in logistics, freight forwarding, truck brokerage, or multimodal transportation operations.
  • Strong knowledge of domestic trucking, international freight forwarding, and cross-border logistics.
  • Experience with air freight, ocean freight, and ground transportation coordination.
  • Familiarity with U.S. Customs regulations, TSA requirements, and import/export documentation.
  • Experience using Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities in a fast-paced logistics environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus but not required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or Business Administration preferred but not required.
